Issue
A particular kernel for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not present in the supported kernel list of KernelCare.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Update Support
- KernelCare
Solution
Ensure that the kernel is not provided within Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Update Support (EUS).
- Check whether a system is in EUS with
subscription-manager release --list
and see if EUS is mentioned - The kernel is provided within EUS is listed under Red Hat Enterprise Linux - Extended Update Support at https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/package-browser
If there is EUS kernel, then as a workaround:
- In case the Red Hat EUS was mistakenly enabled, disable it using the Red Hat subscription manager, reboot with the standard kernel and KernelCare will provide patches to it.
- If the EUS product used intentionally, the first kernel in the Red Hat EUS series is the same as the kernel in the standard Enterprise Linux kernel. By switching to a previous version of the kernel for 8.6 (4.18.0-372.9.1.el8) KernelCare patches would be accessible.
Cause
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Update Support (EUS) kernel support is yet to be implemented.
We recommend customers who would like to use an EUS version that is not currently supported to contact their account manager.
