ePortal 500/Unavailable error when Fips is enabled

Issue

ePortal web interface shows HTTP 500 Internal Server Error when FIPS is enabled. For example:

The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Environment

• Rhel 9
• Fips

Solution

The fix was released as part of the recently deployed kcare-eportal-2.22 package. Please make sure you are running this version before attempting the migration once again. 

Cause

Flask’s session signing uses SHA1 by default. When FIPS is enabled, SHA1 is blocked, resulting in a 500 Internal Server Error:
